Playa Portrait Photography Workshop
Agenda for the day
- Initial Zoom meeting with the all attendees (a week before), to introduce the workshop, it´s contents and to make adjustments based on participants photography knowledge
- 1 full day, 8 hours on a close location (cenotes) 45 min. or 1 hour lunch break. And maybe a final feedback meeting to ask questions. Results can be shown on club´s Whatsapp group or Google photos album.
- 15 attendees max.
- DSLRs are preferable, but not mandatory. Cell phones must be able to control camera settings through an App
- Start with a short briefing about what portrait is as a photography branch (Maybe send a paper after the previous meeting so they can read it before and don´t “waste” time on location).
- Allocate one/two model for every five/six photographers and split in to teams.
- Assign a different spot for every team and ask them to look how the light affect the model´s face, ask them to shoot wide, medium, close, etc. and think about the background as an important part of the image. Also show them different kinds of light quality like, diffuse, hard, fill, rim, modifiers, etc.
- Introduce them to strobes, so they can use those to mix with available light and balance both. Assign every team a strobe and give them a task to complete.
- Learn to use sunlight as a second light (rim or fill).
- Give them tips to direct models properly and “break the ice” for better results.
- Before dismiss the models, a quick round of Q&A and final shots.
- Back to the club (or a selected place) for a final feedback meeting.
- From 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. I think is going to take us 1:45 hours to get from the reunion point and come back to the final meeting. Introduction speech 1:00 hour. Final meeting for feedback 1:30. Lunch 1:00 hour. 2 hours with models, and 45 min. left just in case we got delayed for some reason.
